About us

The 14th Eastleigh Scout Group was formed in 1946. The Group consists of three sections which are Beaver ages 6 – 8, Cubs ages 8 – 10 ½ and Scouts aged 10 ½ – 14 and an award winning Scout and Guide band.

Sections include disabled young people and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Group is run entirely by volunteers with adult leaders of all ages running the sections. The Group executive committee supports the Group and consists of the Group Scout Leader, the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary and a representative leader from each section as well as parent representatives. Committee members have a vast amount of experience of working in the financial and administration sector as well as voluntarily within Scouting.

The Group hold regular youth forums to involve young people in the running of the Group and to establish the need for projects. Young people from the Group undertake various activities including traditional Scouting skills, sports, crafts, social skills, adventurous activities and team building.

The Groups is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and improving the environment by undertaking projects which have included the installation of a solar photovoltaic electric system, solar hot water system, air to air heat pumps a full range of energy efficiency measures including cavity wall insulation and energy efficient lighting and the installation of a rainwater harvesting system, the building of a community garden and a woodland conservation area. These projects have led to the building being one of the most environmentally friendly community building in the United Kingdom.
